Today is St Patrick's Day, the best time of year to wear Kelly green, the namesake of which came from Ireland. This splendid shade of green is so ideal for spring that we'll definitely want to wear it beyond St. Patrick's Day. The only problem is, a bright color like this tends to magnify our bodies. What can we do about that?
An easy solution is in the photo above. Yes, simply layer a suede vest, which happens to be on trend, over your Kelly green dress and you are all set!
(Note: the photos below serve as hot links to Bloomingdale's or the outlet of Neiman Marcus as long as the products are available.)
Suede is a sturdy fabric that will make you appear less fleshy, so a suede vest, no matter what color it is, will optically trim your torso. Another factor: a vest always breaks the horizontal view and creates a thinner illusion.
An earth toned suede vest will go really with Kelly green. The combination will scream spring!
In case you like my mini scalloped dress in Kelly green, it's from Amazon.com. The same dress comes in a few colors (the ad below should present the black version as long as the product is available).
In case your skin tone doesn't mesh well with Kelly green, you can pick a print with a small dose of the color in it to get into St. Patrick's spirit.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
